Anu Tuominen

It is a compliment to say I mistook Finish artist Anu Tuominen's outdoor clothespin installation for a domestic-bent Andy Goldsworthy. Her meticulous organization of color and object are reminiscent too of any number of arrange-by-color artists, and yet Tuominen gently declines comparison. She is a collector and a composer — "an archaeologist of knowledge, and a gardener of the image ... She developed the poetics of the grammatology of the everyday" [Otso Kantokorpi]. Here are two sites of discussion on her that I found and liked: POP, and Galerie Anhava. She has two books Ars Fennica and Thinkables. [via Automatism, through slow progress, by way of gold grass]
